Bigger Than Eight Steps to Mathematics / 06.05.2012

While forward-thinking beat makers typically aim for unheard and 'next level' instrumentals the use of Rap and R&B vocals never went out of fashion. In 2012, bootleg culture is alive and kicking.
We publish this tiny collection of bootlegs by six EB-affiliated producers as a free give-away to celebrate 3.000 'Likes' on our facebook. Irrespective of the latest spasms in 'Bass Music' it serves as a reminder from where we draw our main motivation and elegantly reflects the label motto: Basically it's Hip Hop.

1. Company Flow - Eight Steps To Perfection (Monolithium Recrunk)
2. 8Ball - Stop Playing Games (B-Ju Remix)
3. Dead Prez - It's Bigger Than (Swede:art Remix)
4. Mos Def - Mathematics (Montgomery Clunk Remix)
5. Missy Elliott - Loose Control (Recontrolled by DZA)
6. Nicki Minaj - Did It On Em (OL Remix)

The fictitious world of Montgomery Clunk / 20.03.2012

A couple of months ago we announced a new Montgomery Clunk's ep in 2012. The time has come and today we unveil the artwork of the Mondegreen EP which has been once again drawn by Paul Paun, the young artist behind the twisted cover of Monty's previous work, Superbus.
We sat down with both Silviu and Paul to discover what's behind these fascinating characters and their connection with the music.

Hi Paul, Silviu, please give us a brief introduction to who you are and what you do.

Paul: Ey I'm Paul 20 years old, I live in Bucharest, Romania and I am currently studying graphic design at the National Arts Academy. I've been drawing since I can remember.
I consider myself one of those really lucky people that can go through life doing exactly what they love for a living. I like the slack and the lack of responsabilities that come with an artist's life yet this is changing now since I'm going into graphic design and the sort. I'm creeping up on 3D art and animation, dreaming on doing something massive and impressive, hope my delusions of grandeur help me achieve this.
Silviu: Hey, I'm 23... I'm Silviu. I'm mostly interested in various forms of sound.
Sometimes I go out with my friends. Got dreams, too. I also play videogames and all that...read more

OL drops 'Arabic Gum' Mixtape / 27.02.2012

While working on new material for his forthcoming 12" EP 'Body Varial' on Error Broadcast OL has been busy djing with his partner-in-crime Lapti, so we asked a contribution to our mixtape series to check what's going on in the club scene of Moscow.

Arabic Gum is the perfect reflection of what's contemporary and fresh in the beat sphere: from the Lex Luger bassocentric hip-hop of Tyga to the hyper dance-music of Sinjin Hawke passing through Juke (Distal & Rashad) and Techno (Benjamin Damage & Doc Daneeka, Nah Like). By tuning in you'll experience 30 minutes of pure dopeness for the dancefloor, a major system-upgrade from one of the finest digger. Sit tight and get ready to dance.

Volt (kidkanevil Remix) Official Video / 05.02.2012

Late in 2011 Error Broadcast released Repolyx by Taprikk Sweezee who approached Labmeta to create a video for the track Volt. The sumptuous remix by kidkanevil is a dance floor killer, the perfect mix of sleazy, low slung beats with the sweet and intricate vocals of Taprikk.
The video features a sparse environment that is manipulated by a polygon reactor and is directed by Paul Mumford who worked on projects for artists such as Michael Fakesch, Pendulum, Aoki Takamasa, Franz Ferdinand, Kylie Minouge and Depeche Mode. Enjoy the digital bliss!

Asiluum Case Studies: Montgomery Clunk / 27.12.2011

Bucharest-based label Asiluum visited Montgomery Clunk in Dristor district to  shoot a documentary about the man behind  the project, Silviu Badea, one of the most promising names of the new-school sound of Romania.
They also asked him to play some of the new tracks that will be out on the Mondegreen EP we announced last month so you better activate subtitles and listen closely...

Furthermore the godfather of Romanian electronic scene, Cosmin TRG, played a Montgomery Clunk's tune on his mix for Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Show recognising  him, again, as one of the name to follow in 2012. Can't agree more!
