Montgomery Clunk is Silviu Badea, from Bucharest, Romania. We introduced the name when Clunk released his debut EP with Error Broadcast back in 2010. The sound of Superbus was both menacing dark and melodious, beat-heavy and playful at the same time.
Ever since then Clunk reinvented himself a few times and grew to be a much-asked DJ and live act all over Eastern Europe.

Now, for his vinyl debut, we picked the freshest and most adventurous tracks Montgomery Clunk has released to date. His 'Mondegreen' EP is the essence of two years' research in bass music.
Clunk delivers a minimal version of maximalism, combining crackpot neon melodies with complex and well-defined beat patterns. 'Mondegreen' is unmistakable Montgomery Clunk, with its expertly entwined textures and solitary beats achieving surreal character not only once. In his hands, Hip Hop becomes a glistening future thing again.

Check out this interview feature with Paul Paun and Silviu Badea on the art of 'Mondegreen' and 'Superbus'.

<![CDATA[ebcmx009 / OL - Arabic Gum Mixtape]]> http://www.error-broadcast.com/index.php/mixes/show/release/ebcmx009 Oleg Buyanov aka OL is the unsung hero of the Russian beat scene. Based in Moscow and leading producer of the RAD collective, he's been low-key since the very beginning of his musical career.
Following the 'Fly Russia' tsunami he emerged to the international scene with the 'Random Phrase' EP on Error Broadcast and the 'Kurilovo' 7" on Faces Records making heads turn from LA to Tokyo with his blend of textured beats. While working on new material for his forthcoming 12" EP 'Body Varial' on Error Broadcast he's been busy djing with his partner-in-crime Lapti, so we asked a contribution to our mixtape series to check what's going on in the club scene of Moscow.

Arabic Gum is the perfect reflection of what's contemporary and fresh in the beat sphere: from the Lex Luger bassocentric hip-hop of Tyga to the hyper dance-music of Sinjin Hawke passing through Juke (Distal & Rashad) and Techno (Benjamin Damage & Doc Daneeka, Nah Like).
By tuning in you'll experience 30 minutes of pure dopeness for the dancefloor, a major system-upgrade from one of the finest digger. Sit tight and get ready to dance.

<![CDATA[ebc016 / B-Ju - Prozac People]]> http://www.error-broadcast.com/index.php/catalog/show/release/ebc016
B-Ju is a young producer from Hamburg, Germany. If you are following Error Broadcast the name should be familiar with you – in 2010, our very first vinyl release was with him (Dog Day EP, check it out).

In 2012 B-Ju returns to Error Broadcast.
His Prozac People EP combines instrumental Hip Hop with Footwork percussion and lush 80s synth pads. B-Ju skilfully achieves to make both your head nod and feet move - and eventually appreciate his impeccable taste in melody, texture, and arrangement. The EP is complete with remixes by eLan (Monkey Town), 813 (Donky Pitch, RAD), and our own player Monolithium.

<![CDATA[ebc015 / Shlohmo - Shlo-fi]]> http://www.error-broadcast.com/index.php/catalog/show/release/ebc015

What people have constantly been asking for finally becomes reality. Error Broadcast re-issues the mini album ‘Shlo-fi’ by Bay Area beat conductor Shlohmo. The tape dropped late in 2009, hot on the heels of ‘Shlomoshun’ which in 2010 became a great success as ‘Shlomoshun Deluxe’ (Friends of Friends Music). While the later showcases the beat-heavy side of Shlohmo, ‘Shlo-fi’ can be seen as breeding ground for the more subtle aspects in the work of young Laufer who recently earned massive praise with his left-field masterpiece ‘Bad Vibes’.

"(Shlo-fi) is some of my oldest material under the Shlohmo name, and for some reason I still feel more attached to it than a lot of the stuff that came after." Shlohmo

‘Shlo-fi’ was carefully re-mastered for the 2011 edit. The 12” version (300 copies) features original track listing and artwork and comes with full-colour sleeves and labels. The digital and 2x 12” version includes remixes by Anenon, S.Maharba, and Wanda Group (former Dem Hunger) as well as newcomers Soosh and Jameszoo.

<![CDATA[ebctp005 / Taprikk Sweezee - Repolyx]]> http://www.error-broadcast.com/index.php/tapes/show/release/ebctp005

Taprikk Sweezee is a producer and vocalist living in Hamburg, Germany. He worked with the likes of Michael Fakesch and Andi Thoma and released on !K7, First Word Records, Pudel Produkte, and more. He runs Zoikmusic. With ‘Repolyx’ you can find the four original tunes of his recent Poly EP (2011, Musik aus Strom) re-modelled by artists from the immediate and extended EB family.

Montgomery Clunk delivers a vocal-driven power ball flip of ‘Eating at the Void’ while Skyence transforms the track into a soulful piano ballad. The version of Jameszoo is a sensible stomper of indefinable genre. Moscow’s finest Pixelord makes ‘Newend’ an UK Funky affair and Monolithium re-frames the later with a monstrous shuffle backend. Check out Digi G’Alessio with a killer club take on ‘Volt’ as well as the wistful Rave cut of this very tune by kidkanevil.

<![CDATA[ebcmx008 / Maguett - Blurred Mixtape]]> http://www.error-broadcast.com/index.php/mixes/show/release/ebcmx008 Maguett aka Dmitrii Drozdov started his carrier in music with razor-sharp and nihilistic IDM on a number of Russian netlabels. When he had his track ‘Fog Movement’ on our first release Bag of Nothingness Dima had moved towards a more beat scene-oriented sound already. Maguett has never been at the very core of the Fly Russia movement, but his contribution ‘Orange Flame’ to the compilation of the same name added a dark shade that is important for the full picture. Thus it is no wonder G5 Music has eventually put its hands on Maguett and published his first proper releases in a long while. Make sure not to miss out on Twilight.

Maguetts' mixtape Blurred plays the cards pretty smooth. He sews soulful vocals into ambient textures, plays with different time codes and atmospheres and switches elegantly from lo-fi VHS sounds to ultradeep Dub spheres. By times sugarsweet, then again intractable this is not a DJ set to rock a club but an artistically challenging patchwork of contemporary Bass Music.

<![CDATA[ebcmx007 / ichiro_ - Zansho Mixtape]]> http://www.error-broadcast.com/index.php/mixes/show/release/ebcmx007 Next in our in-frequent series of mixtapes is ichiro_, one Japans' top-notch beat makers. We have been working with the Nerima-based producer for remixes on 'Error Code' by AEED and DZA's sold-out cassette. He just released the debut album 'Unconsidered_' with Japanese Oilworks and published a digital EP 'Noon' earlier in June 2011.

What is true for ichiro_'s original productions can be found with 'Zansho' as well. He squeezes 23 tracks into 60 tight minutes, songs strongly enlaced and re-edited with reverb, delay, and compression.
What we get to hear is one hour of high energy beats, a mesmerizing flow of instrumental Hip Hop and electronic music, with hints of UK Bass and Japanese Rap. ichiro_ balances abrasive beats with highly textured pads; his influence from Ambient and Tape music is obvious.
Despite all the heavyness ichiro_ manages to surprise with elegant and fresh sounds every once a while, making 'Zansho' a proper must-listen.

<![CDATA[ebc014 / DZA - Zoo Keeper]]> http://www.error-broadcast.com/index.php/catalog/show/release/ebc014

Zoo Keeper is the brand-new 12" vinyl EP by Russian beat maker DZA. You can find the versatile producer leaving the trail of stumbling beats and scattered loops with these six tunes. DZA embraces Rave and Acid, mixes saccharine 8bit melodies with bass tempest and manages to make this mixture sound cool as anything. Tracks like 'Zoo Keeper', 'Limbo' and 'Vanillaface' (featuring our own Montgomery Clunk) are hymns, instantly able to energize dance floors all over the world.

DZA teams up with US bass music high-flyer Salva (Frite NiteFriends of Friends Music) who delivers a lush and airy remix of 'Zoo Keeper' while Italian Digi G'alessio (Overknights) revitalizes good ole wobble on his version of the percussive 'Sea Monstr' riddim.
Don't miss the ten-pages booklet with individual artwork on each track!

<![CDATA[ebc013 / Monolithium - Simon & G-Funk]]> http://www.error-broadcast.com/index.php/catalog/show/release/ebc013
Victoria's Chris Longshanks is a DJ that knows the dance floor by heart. A passion that pays: with fingers in the crates since 2004, his bass music monthly sub|division is an institution in the blooming nightlife of Western Canada. Not only dedicated to spin other peoples' tunes, however, Longshanks recently unleashed his production moniker Monolithium, which fuses the best from Electro, Skweee, Dubstep and Funk, delivering an original angle on bass music.

Error Broadcast instantly fell in love with Monolithiums’ debut EP Simon & G-Funk for its neck-snapping potential and heavy dose of Funk, combined with an in-yer-face Hip Hop attitude. At the same time the EP sounds hot and humid, entirely synthetic, and slightly suspicious. In the contrast there's magic. Ango (LuckyMe) and Prison Garde (ex-SixToo) appear on Simon & G-Funk as remixers, adding their unique portion of sexiness.

<![CDATA[ebcmx006 / Jameszoo - When I'm Trippin Mixtape]]> http://www.error-broadcast.com/index.php/mixes/show/release/ebcmx006 After Anenon and S.Maharba we're back with another exclusive mixtape from one of the most exciting producers of the moment, Kindred Spirits' wunderkind Jameszoo. Not much is known about the young fella except he's 19 (can you believe?) and that he is going to release a concept album around the iconic figure of Hermeto Pascoal on Amsterdam's Kindred Spirits (Dorian Concept, Jneiro Jarel, Mwëslee, ...). We first saw the light in his eyes when his futuristic Pixelord's remix dropped on Lucid Freaks pt.2, but he's now ready to take off with his own melange of future-soul and abstract beats. Go cop his 7" to get an idea of what we're talking about…

When i'm trippin is a 23-tracks journey into Jameszoo's musical world, connecting past and present of the Nu-School beats. From Jazz to Boom Bap Hip Hop, from experimental electronica to new Bass-science. Originality is still alive somewhere…this is the place!
